Amidst the swirl of fall gallery openings, one stands out above all the rest — “Shop Constructions and Drawings from The Hill: James Magee” at Kirk Hopper Fine Art. Meet the mythic creator of perhaps the most brilliant, but under recognized architectural/engineering/art marvel or our time, aka The Hill, on Friday, September 6, 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Kirk Hopper. If the pharaohs were alive and well in West Texas, they would have paid a visit. At KHFA, revel in Magee’s vision translated into heroic working-class sculptural constructions cloaked in mystery, and concocted from prosaic industrial materials including lead, glass, iron, wire mesh, ceramic tile shards and even brake fluid, as well as aromatic honey and paprika (through October 12, photo of The Hill by Tom Jenkins.)
