Dinner with the Habsburgs at MFAH

By //

What: A celebratory dinner and preview of “Habsburg Splendor: Masterpieces from Vienna’s Imperial Collections.”

Where: Museum of Fine Arts, Houston’s Cullinan Hall.

Who: Princess Maria-Anna Galitzine, Tatiana Galitzine, Maria Galitzine, Xenia Galitzine de Matta and Alberto Matta; Kunsthistorisches Museum director Dr. Sabine Haag, in from Vienna; sponsor Bank of America’s Houston prez Hong Ogle; Hamill Foundation’s Tom Brown; and benefactors Mary Cullen, Nancy and Rich Kinder, Cornelia and Meredith LongSharyn and Jim Weaver.

PC Moment: A princess dines among us! Yes, Habsburg descendent Princess Maria Anna Galitzine is “alive and well and living in Houston, Texas,” as Gary Tinterow cheerfully phrased it while addressing the crowd of 165 trustees and donors assembled for a seated dinner of duck breast and salmon — paired with Austrian wines, naturally — to celebrate the spectacular exhibition.
