When Susan Sarofim started planning her ladies lunch for supporters of the November “Touchdown for TEACH” evening, she turned to two of her favorite providers — Tony’s for the scrumptious fare and Tootsies for the enticing entertainment provided by MCL Jewelry. More on the event itself later, but we simply must share images from one of the tastiest and loveliest ladies luncheon menus in many moons.
The event took place in the Sarofim “white house” on River Oaks Boulevard with the jewelry display occupying the library and the lavish buffet luncheon set up in the vast, two-story party room at the back of the home.
Sarofim left it up to Tony’s creative team to divine a menu that would be both light, after all it was mostly ladies in the mix, and tasty. Contributing a festive note to the shopping fete, libations included plenty of Borgoluce prosecco and Hudson Chardonnay. For those not wishing to imbibe, waiters passed trays of drinks that also included freshly-brewed blueberry iced tea.
Those familiar with Tony’s lunch menu were swooning over the luncheon headliner — Summer Seafood Salad, a Lynn Wyatt favorite, composed of Maine lobster, jumbo lump crabmeat, Gulf shrimp and mango with a citrus ginger vinaigrette. The aroma wafting up from the still warm from the oven Asparagus Cambozola Quiche surely had mouths watering while the Caprese Stuffed Avocados (tomato, buffalo mozzarella, torn basil and a balsamic splash) could not be resisted. And for those with a healthy bent, the Summer Vegetable Harvest (three colored carrots, peppers and zucchini), accompanied with heirloom tomato flatbread and offered with avocado mousse and fresh mango salsa, was just the ticket.
For the sweet conclusion, guests dipped into petite chocolate mousse cakes and lemon tarts.
Then, it was home for a nap.
