PC Moment: The 8th Annual Emmitt Smith Celebrity Golf Invitational & Gala to benefit Pat & Emmitt Smith Charities began its weekend-long celebration under the Friday night lights. A frenzy of celebrities walked the red carpet during the Gala, including Marianne and Roger Staubach, Torii Hunter, Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott and many more remarkable stars. A high-point came when Staubach presented Arizona Cardinals wide receiver and 2017 Walter Payton NFL Co-Man of the Year Award winner Larry Fitzgerald Jr. with the Roger Staubach award, which honors sports or entertainment professionals who have positively influenced the lives of young people.
The golf tournament followed the next day: players were paired with celebrities to compete for a $5,000 purse. The winning team consisted of Doug Campbell, Dennis Bassler, Albertson’s/Tom Thumb exec Brayden Taylor, and former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Sterling Sharpe.
On Par: Honorary chair Faye C. Briggs; event chairs Carmaleta and Otis Felton; plus Nancy Lieberman, emcees Dale Hensen and Bishop T.D. Jakes.
