What: VIP Opening of “Deep Play” by Donna Moylan
Where: Barbara Davis Gallery with an after party at the home of Donna Moylan and Dr. Benjamin Chu
PC Moment: Colorful paintings by Donna Moylan are the perfect start for summer. Moylan’s premier exhibition at Barbara Davis resulted in overwhelming praise from the attendees. Art lovers mingled among the artist’s energetic and contemporary landscape paintings. With minute details obscured in her work such as a small bird, spectators were captivated with discovery. Her black-and -white works using mixed media on linen, served up an intricate and sensual representation of nature, edged in Surrealism.
Moylan is a graduate of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts of Boston and has studios in New York as well as Houston. She began her career in Italy as a fine artist and has exhibited extensively through Europe. The exhibition is on view until July 1.
Who: Susan Sarofim, Margaret Alkek Williams with Jim Daniel, Philamena and Arthur Baird, Beverly and John Berry, Ashley and Robert Feldman, Consul-General of Japan Tetsuro Amano, The Menil Collection’s Judy Waters and Meghan Thrash, art critic/UH professor Raphael Rubinstein and artist/collaborator Heather Bause, designers Nina Magon and Kara Mihalick, Grace Kim, Judith Oudt, artists David Aylsworth and Juan Sanchez, and Donna and Tony Vallone who acquired a canvas.
