Something special is popping up this weekend at Uptown Park. It’s an immersive, multi-sensory exhibit called The Museum for Black Girls. This interactive art installation illustrates the black female experience and empowers girls and women of all ages to think beyond what they see to all they can do, imagine and create. All while letting you interact with the art.
“Black Girl Magic is more than a buzz phrase or trend,”says Charlie Billingsley, founder of The Museum for Black Girls. “It is the essence of black girls and women. The Museum for Black Girls celebrates and educates everyone about our journey, from our past to present state of liberation.
“Our museum serves as a love letter to Black women and our unique experiences.”
After a wildly successful run in Denver, the Houston pop-up museum arrives at 1141 Uptown Park Boulevard with collaborations with 10 artists, including Von Ross (partner at The Museum for Black Girls), Kayla Washington, Aunjanee Niblett, TJ Hudson, Kaylee Bender, Yazmin Atmore, KB Brown, Madd Kyng, Khia Ancalade, Chandrika Metivier, Kanika Blair, Iyesha Williams and Johnnie Jackson.

Designed to share the stories, experiences and evolution of the black woman through the lens of these creative artists, this is a feel-great celebration of love and life. Be sure to charge your phone and capture your image among the vibrant surroundings starting this Saturday, October 16th.
This new Houston museum will be open Thursdays and Fridays from 2 pm to 8 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from 12 pm to 8 pm. Tickets range from $15 to $32 and can be purchased here.
