Desert Rose Returns to River Crest Country Club

Desert Rose may well be Fort Worth’s fall social season starting gun. Last year, we covered nearly 400 cowgirls descending on River Crest Country Club for the sold-out luncheon, which raised nearly $400,000 for the National Cowgirl Museum & Hall of Fame. The Rodeo Midway-themed affair included everything from cotton candy-topped champagne to a Western fashion show and a rousing “Pink Pony Club” singalong.

This year’s Rock & Roll-inspired luncheon on September 16 is already sold out. The Desert Rose Shopping Preview returns to River Crest the evening before, September 15, offering cocktails and first dibs on a curated collection of Western fashion, jewelry, home décor, and lifestyle goods from buzzy brands.

Bowie House Welcomes a Parisian House Favorite and Famed Cookbook Author

Bowie House is giving Fort Worth two very different but equally tempting reasons to visit this September. From September 15 through 17, Parisian fashion house Balmain takes over the luxury hotel’s Mulberry Room for an exclusive shopping experience featuring the storied brand’s ready-to-wear and accessories.

On September 20, the kitchen takes center stage as Dallas-based cookbook author and The Defined Dish founder Alex Snodgrass arrives for a conversation and book signing celebrating her fourth cookbook, Everyday Eats. Tickets include a welcome drink, bites inspired by The Defined Dish, and a signed copy of the new book.

Mahj for Meals

What do Leon Bridges and mahjong have in common? The answer would be Tarrant Area Food Bank, which benefits from Bridges’ charitable collaboration with former TCU head football coach Gary Patterson, The Big Good, and TAFB’s major fundraiser, Mahj for Meals. Now in its 10th year, the fashionable fundraiser returns to River Crest Country Club on October 1 for a full day of mahjong, cocktails, bites, and prizes — all in support of TAFB’s efforts to fight childhood hunger.

The event that raised more than $300,000 last year promises another spirited day of friendly competition, fashionable looks, and philanthropy, this year themed for the Year of the Horse.

Fashion Week Stockyards Style

Fashion Week Stockyards Style is a yearly reminder of the legendary people and Western brands that call Fort Worth home. The fifth annual event will feature in-store activations throughout the Stockyards, leading to a Friday, October 2, morning panel conversation at Provender Hall and Kimes Ranch First Friday that evening. Saturday will feature a 5 pm runway show spotlighting local Western retailers before an after-party at Hotel Drover’s Backyard.

Modern Masters of the West returns, pairing 12 artists with 12 local retailers, and Boots and Bubbles will roll out its champagne cart for the runway show. This year, there’s much to celebrate, with Tucker Brown marking its 40th anniversary, Yellow Rose by Kendra Scott opening this fall, and Hotel Drover celebrating five years of exceptional hospitality. Texas Ballet Theater Presents Casanova

You may not know the exploits of 18th-century adventurer Giacomo Casanova, but you almost certainly know his reputation. This October, Texas Ballet Theater brings Fort Worth beyond the legend in Kenneth Tindall’s Casanova, a sensual exploration of the man behind the centuries-old mythology. Set amid the grandeur of 18th-century Venice, the ballet pairs Baroque grandeur with bold, cinematic movement and an original score by Kerry Muzzey, whose music has been featured on Glee, So You Think You Can Dance, and in Look & See: A Portrait of Wendell Berry.

In the Making: Stories from the Collection

Many of the most heralded modern artists, from Roy Lichtenstein to KAWS and Takashi Murakami, have works represented in the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth’s permanent collection, making the Modern’s holdings one of the most comprehensive bodies of work by artists who shaped art history and our perception of the world.

From late October 2026 through mid-August 2027, The Modern is saving coveted museum space to showcase selections from its renowned collection. In the Making: Stories from the Collection unfolds through 10 rotating presentations organized around themes including material, color, and mark-making, with several recent acquisitions joining longtime favorites.

Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival Night Market

The Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival hosts events throughout the year to support its charitable mission of providing scholarships to aspiring chefs. One of its most popular gatherings is Night Market, returning to The Shack at Panther Island Pavilion on November 12.

The Kimbell Puts Analog Photography in Focus

Fort Worth’s photographers are true working artists. This December, the Kimbell Art Museum will give six contemporary photographers using traditional analog processes the chance to showcase their craft alongside masterworks from photography’s first century.

The museum’s Local Lens: Analog Photography Showcase, to be held December 12, invites visitors to meet the selected artists, see their finished works, and learn about their techniques. The event complements Photography’s First Century: Masterworks from the Bibliothèque nationale de France, the Kimbell’s first-ever exhibition devoted to the art of photography.
