Houston’s Best Galentine’s Day Parties — 12 Events That Honor Leslie Knope’s Beloved Holiday

Valentine’s Day is a popular time to pop the question: Will you marry me? But maybe, as a society, we should try another question on for size. How about this: Who run the world? Girls.

And it’s girls who make the most of the romantic month with Galentine’s Day, the holiest of holidays. Created by eternal optimist Leslie Knope of Parks & Recreation, Galentine’s Day is devoted to ladies celebrating ladies. It’s a time for unbridled girl power, and there are plenty of ways to celebrate.

PaperCity has rounded up Houston’s best Galentine’s Day events. From crafting, sipping on bubbly, designing your own jewelry and taking a dance class, there’s something for everyone. Unless, of course, you’re of the hardcore Thelma & Louise persuasion.

But if you feel like staying in and taking in a feel-good feminist film, might we suggest: Mean Girls, Bring it On, Bend It Like Beckham, Clueless, Legally Blonde, Mulan, Erin Brockovich, A League of Their Own, Steel Magnolias, Miss Congeniality, The First Wives Club or Kill Bill. Well, maybe Kill Bill isn’t feel good. But you get the idea.

Karbach Galentine’s Market

Who needs a date when brew’s company? Karbach is hosting an epic Galentine’s Day Market with tons of different vendors to wow gals as they stroll through the biergarten. Special guest Rock-A-Bully and Friends Rescue will be there to share all the puppy love.

So far, dozens of vendors have signed on, and there may be even more. Expect Pop Soap, The Treasury, Lina’s Jewels, Gypsysoul and more.
