Houston’s Best Christmas Movies: Six Must-See Special Holiday Screenings
BY Annie Gallay // 12.14.17Die Hard is the ultimate Christmas movie. Everyone knows that.
This Christmas, you’d better watch. Not watch out, watch! Houston’s putting on a great lineup of public holiday movie screenings. Film buffs can spread out throughout the city to take in some heartwarming classics and more modern-day Christmas movies.
PaperCity has rounded up six must-see showings over the next two weeks. It’s not so much Do You See What I See? As it is Do You Watch What I Watch?
It’s A Wonderful Life
Spread out your picnic blanket and get settled on the hill at Discovery Green today (Thursday, Dec. 14) for a showing of It’s A Wonderful Life. The Christmas classic follows businessman George Bailey on a surprising journey of self-discovery.
You won’t want to miss out on the experience—and there’s no one who gets FOMO like George.
If you can’t catch the film this week, no worries. Different holiday movies will be playing at 7 every Thursday in Discovery Green through January 18th.

Christmas Vacation
Get your Griswold grub tomorrow at City Acre Brewing. This movie screening comes with this tasty bonus: a Griswold Family Dinner Feast. Aunt Bethany’s Jell-O salad and turkey jerkey are all on the menu. Want more deets? I don’t know what to say, except it’s Christmas and we’re all in misery.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas
Dr. Seuss’ favorite villain you love to hate, the notorious Grinch, comes to life at Sport’s Creek this Sunday. Or at least, he comes to live-action. Watch a green Jim Carrey learn a few lessons. Who knows, your heart may grow three sizes just watching.

A Christmas Story
This quintessential Christmas tale is sure to pop up on TV, but why wait? Bundle up with a brew in Karbach Biergarten and watch a Christmastime favorite. Ralphie Parker reminisces in a series of vignettes that get funnier and funnier. Spoiler alert: he didn’t shoot his eye out.
