From a restaurant dramedy to a former Saturday Night Live cast member’s own series, these are the best comedy TV shows to stream right now.
The Bear (FX/Hulu)
This new comedy-drama TV show from FX stars Jeremy Allen White (Shameless) as Carmy Berzatto, a young chef who formerly worked in fine dining, and returns to take over his family’s sandwich shop in Chicago after his brother dies. Tension and hilarity ensue when he must work with his “cousin” Richie and the strong-headed chefs his brother left behind at the restaurant. With debts owed and so much to improve, Carmy gets some help from a new sous chef, Sydney (Ayo Edebiri).

Loot (Apple TV+)
Maya Rudolph steps into a new role that she absolutely shines in this new Apple TV+ original comedy series. Starring as a billionaire who divorces her husband (Adam Scott) after 20 years of marriage, Molly Novak (Rudolph) must decide what to do with her life and the $87 billion settlement that she received. In the first episode, Novak discovers that she has a charity foundation and wants to get involved. After a few laughable missteps, she realizes that this new passion might be what she’s been really missing in her life all along. Comedians Joel Kim Booster and Ron Funches also star in the show.

I Love That For You (Showtime)
This semi-autobiographical comedy was created by and stars former Saturday Night Live star Vanessa Bayer. Inspired by the true story of Bayer battling leukemia as a teenager, the show follows Joanna Gold (Bayer) — a woman who has overcomes cancer and decides to finally achieve her dream of becoming a host on a home shopping network. After her first screw-up, she lies that her cancer has returned in order to keep her job and then must keep up the charade. Molly Shannon plays Jackie Stilton, the host that inspired Joanna, and Jenifer Lewis as the network’s CEO.
