The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express routes across Europe

Savvy international travelers are assuredly familiar with the legendary Venice Simplon-Orient-Express as the world’s most sophisticated form of overland hegiras. But luxury travel concern Belmond, which lays claim to five star hotels around the world in addition to the train, has just raised the bar on its own level of luxury.

Beginning in March of 2018 discerning sojourners will be able to park their Louis Vuitton and Tumi bags in one of the three private over-the-top suites. Belmond has revealed that it will be converting individual classic cabins into three Grand Suites, each complete with private bathroom and shower and a personal cabin steward.

Playing on the romance of the train’s history, each suite is named after one of the cities on the itinerary — Paris, Venice and Istanbul. The Orient-Express travels regularly on the London-Paris-Venice route March to November and once a year, either in August or September, from Paris to Istanbul.

“To capture the epitome of classic luxury travel that the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express exudes, we focused on moments within each city, inspiring visual cues and the overall Belmond guest experience,” designer Rachel Johnson of London-based Wimberly Interiors notes. “It was an exciting challenge to use this inspiration to recreate the essence of art deco glamour in an elegant and timeless design.”

In addition to luxuriating amid the sumptuous furnishings, exquisite fabrics, hand-carved timbers, embossed leathers, Venetian glass and yards and yards of silk, those who book one of the rolling jewel boxes for travel will enjoy free-flowing champagne, private in-suite dining, and a complimentary Art Deco bathrobe.

A classic over-night journey in a Grand Suite from London to Venice is priced at $6,160 per person.
