Rice Stadium in Houston, Texas, 1950

A marvel of engineering by Brown and Root, which constructed the stadium at cost. The striking concrete silhouette has attenuated concrete columns supporting its upper decks. In 1962, JFK spoke from the stadium and challenged America to reach the moon by the end of the decade.
