Saturn V Rocket

The reason we landed on the moon, the colossal three-stage, 363-feet tall, 6.2-million-pound Saturn V is named for its mighty quintet of F-1 engines. The impressive rocket with its iconic silhouette — still the tallest, heaviest, and most powerful ever flown — launched 26 astronauts into space for six successful Apollo lunar landings. One of three remaining Saturn Vs in the U.S. resides permanently on view at NASA Johnson Space Center Houston.
