Bach Society Houston presents Music in the Americas, a vibrant, participatory concert on Sunday, June 1, 3–4:30 PM at Christ the King Lutheran Church. This unique program uncovers how the music of Johann Sebastian Bach resonates across time and continents, blending his European compositions with rich vocal and organ traditions from Mexico, Jamaica, and the United States. Led by Artistic Directors Rick Erickson and Ben Kerswell, the Bach Choir will perform works by Bach, Mexican Baroque composer Manuel de Sumaya, African American spiritual arrangements, shaped-note hymns, and more. Audiences are invited to listen, reflect, and sing along.
