Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation’s Ladies for Literacy Guild is hosting the 10th annual Power of Literacy Luncheon at The Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston on Friday, October 24^th from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Actor and New York Times bestselling author, Tom Selleck, will be the featured speaker. Chaired by Sidney Faust and Betty Hrncir, this year’s theme is Opening the Door to Literacy. Proceeds from the luncheon will advance former First Lady Barbara Bush’s literacy legacy and support childhood literacy programs of the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation, as well as other community-based literacy organizations across our city. Attendees will also enjoy a silent auction, raffle and special “Giving Tree” opportunity. The event will also feature a special musical performance by Saint Thomas’ Episcopal School Pipe Band.
