Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation’s Ladies for Literacy Guild is hosting the 11th annual Power of Literacy Luncheon at The Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston on Friday, October 23^rd at 11:00 am. Chaired by Jan Rhodes & Sandra Shenkir with the theme “Stars, Stripes, and Stories,” the proceeds from this year’s luncheon will benefit childhood literacy initiatives throughout the Houston area. The luncheon will feature a conversation with Grammy and Emmy Award-winning, Tony-nominated artist Harry Connick, Jr., whose warmth, wit, exceptional artistry, and heartfelt storytelling have inspired audiences for three decades. The best-selling musician, actor, composer, pianist, singer, and legendary live performer will discuss his new book, Babe: Elaboratio – A Tribute to My Mother, which honors his late mother and celebrates the enduring power of family, faith, music, and the dreams that shape our lives. Attendees will also enjoy a silent auction, raffle and special “Giving Tree” opportunity.
