What

The Flame Foundation will present Flamenco in the Golden Age of Hollywood, a two-day cultural exhibit at the Latino Cultural Center celebrating flamenco’s influence on classic American cinema. Guests will step into a world of vintage Spanish dance and silver screen nostalgia with historic costumes, photography, and film stills featuring legends like Rita Hayworth and Carmen Amaya.

The experience kicks off Friday, September 5 with an Opening Night Soirée, a cocktail party featuring live flamenco performances, Spanish guitar, fashion vignettes modeled by students from Booker T. Washington High School, and exclusive first access to the exhibit. Among the rare costumes on display is a black-and-green bata de cola once belonging to legendary flamenco teacher Mina Gutierrez Hachar and famously worn by dancer Illeana Gomez, as well as a dress on loan from The Dallas Opera, designed by Alan Kline and worn in the iconic 1992–93 production of La Vida Breve.

On Saturday, September 6, the exhibit opens for self-guided tours, inviting guests to explore flamenco’s cinematic legacy at their own pace. Admission is $20 for adults, $15 for students, and free for children under 12.
