The Rothko Chapel is one of Houston’s most beloved landmarks, as well as the world’s first broadly ecumenical center, a sacred place open to all religions and belonging to none. For 55 years, it has been a center for international, cultural, religious, and philosophical exchanges, for colloquia and performances. Under the new leadership of President Abdullah Antepli, we have much to celebrate and share with the entire Houston community.
In that spirit, we hope you will join us as an underwriter for INSPIRIT, a luncheon benefiting the Rothko Chapel on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, at the recently opened Ismaili Center, Houston. Celebrated as a dinner in years past, this year’s INSPIRIT will be a luncheon held at the newly opened Ismaili Center, Houston, recently described in The New York Times as a “flat-out masterpiece.”
The Chapel is thrilled to honor Suzanne Deal Booth, whose extraordinary commitment to cultural institutions, the arts, and preservation has made a lasting impact in Texas and beyond, with our inaugural INSPIRIT Award.
We are also honored to host a conversation with renowned visionary conceptual artist Hank Willis Thomas, a Guggenheim Fellow and co-founder of the artist-led civic initiative For Freedoms. Through his work, Hank explores how art can shape public understanding of democracy and citizenship.
