Spectrum Fusion, a Houston-based nonprofit, is celebrating Autism Acceptance Month this April with a series of initiatives highlighting inclusion, opportunity, and the talents of adults on the autism spectrum. As the centerpiece of Autism Acceptance Month, Spectrum Fusion will host its second annual Filmmakers Showcase on Tuesday, April 28, at the historic River Oaks Theatre. This year’s theme, “Transition to Adulthood,” explores how society can better support autistic individuals as they move toward independence.

The program will feature the documentary “Living on the Fringes of Society: The Intersection of Autism and Homelessness,” along with interviews from autistic adults sharing their lived experiences. The evening also includes “Kids Grow Up,” a piece that highlights the journeys of several adults on the autism spectrum and their transition to independence. The screening is followed by a live Q&A, offering a chance to engage directly with the voices behind the work and continue the conversation around adulthood, independence, and inclusion.

The event begins with a red carpet entrance at 6 p.m., followed by the program at 7:15 p.m.
