River Oaks’ Spectacular Azalea Trail Inspires Stunning Outfits —
By Jailyn Marcel //
Spring in Houston is marked with signature happenings. Everything from the monthlong thrill that is the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo to the thick of crawfish season is going on. But a Bayou City spring isn’t complete without a blooming introduction from River Oaks Garden Club’s annual Azalea Trail, which opens Friday, March 11 and runs through Sunday, March 13. This year marks the 81st installment (the event’s origins date back to 1935) of the posh garden fête, which raises money for various green-centric projects in Houston.
While the six-stop tour of some of the city’s most extravagant azalea-filled gardens may be walkable, there’s no reason you can’t grace your botanic surroundings in style. Complement your flowering ambience with a floral, sequin dress by Blumarine, then finish it off with a herbaceous bag by Nancy Gonzalez and Gucci‘s stunning emerald mules.
Extend the floral frills to your interiors with additions like a print of poppies by artist and illustrator Wayne Pate, a Darwood floral accent chair, and Assouline’s tome Flowers: Art & Bouquets, which is now available for pre-order.
