Fashion Hits the Airport
Chanel’s Captain Lagerfeld Takes Passengers on a Stylish Flight
By Mary Ann Cuellar //
Now boarding, your flight to Paris on Chanel Airlines! Karl Lagerfeld outdid himself once again as he took his fashions to the runway (literally) with Chanel’s Spring ’16 Fashion Show via Chanel Airlines yesterday. No turbulence on this flight – Lagerfeld’s designs showcased beautifully in a transformed Grand Palais, which served as the set for Chanel Airlines, complete with numbered gates, luggage carts, a departures and arrivals board, and baggage check. Guests made their way to gate 2C, flashed their boarding passes, and enthusiastically awaited their preview of Chanel’s Spring Collection.
Travel styles varied from colorful loungewear separates accompanied with messy hair and backwards baseball caps to more proper flight attire, such as primly pulled ponytails adorned with headbands, signature tweed suits and classic flap bags. Best of all, your favorite summer shades and chunky sandals aren’t going anywhere: Mirrored lenses and bright Birkenstock-like sandals adorned models’ faces and feet. Famous faces such as Kendall Jenner walked the runway, while Chanel favorites Cara Delevingne and Anna Wintour filled the seats, making a flight on Chanel Airlines a coveted journey indeed.
