The Color of 2017: A New Shade is Taking Center Stage — Love It or Hate It

BY // 12.21.16

The only New Year resolution you will need for 2017 is to adapt “greenery” into your wardrobe. Yes, Pantone — the color masters — determine a Color of the Year every year and for 2017, it’s shade of yellow green.

This color is supposed to represent what is taking place in the global culture and serve as an expression of everyone’s mood and attitude. The symbolism behind the light green color is something affirming and forward looking, says Leatrice Eiseman, the Pantone Color Institute’s executive director. It represents hope and our connection to nature.

Pantone’s Color of the Year tradition started in 1999, when Cerulean, a serene sky blue earned Color of 2000 honors. Two colors, Rose Quartz (pale pink) and Serenity (shades of lilac and blue-gray) shared the designation in 2016 as a nod to gender equality.

Thankfully Balenciaga, Emilio Pucci, and Michael Kors have managed to incorporate this new green color into some of their Spring 2017 runway looks and we are all about it. Leave it to these top designers to style a color so beautifully and make it all look so effortless.

We know mosts fashionistas often do not think of green as their first choice when it comes to picking a stylist outfit, but it can be very fashionable. It is not going to be easy going green, but as hard as it is, we found a few items with that specific grassy tint that will add zest to any wardrobe.
