A Cycling Dance Party
An Exercise Cult That’s a Lady Gaga Favorite Makes a Big Dallas Impression
By Gabriella Bradley //
Tapping into the Dallas fitness scene, SoulCycle — the original major power player in the spin phenomenon — has opened in Preston Hollow.
The boutique studio is a cult favorite among celebs for its killer workout reminiscent of a dance party and therapy session combined. (Lady Gaga was so obsessed with the adrenaline-pumping workout, she had two custom SoulCycle bikes made to go on tour with her.) Coupling carefully crafted playlists with a candlelit room and pounding bass, SoulCycle’s $30 classes burn between 500 to 700 calories every session.

Co-owners Elizabeth Cutler and Julie Rice opened their New York flagship in 2006. (The duo leased a former funeral home in TriBeCa via Craigslist; a second location in a Bridgehampton, New York, barn quickly followed to accommodate the booming popularity. Since then, more than 60 locations have popped up across the country — including a brand-new studio in River Oaks.
Sweat it out at the Dallas studio’s opening party Saturday, June 4, 9 am to 2 pm, with rides, a photo booth, Buda Juice sips and tunes from DJ Chandra North.
SoulCycle, 5944 W. Northwest Highway, 972.737.7685.
