Christian Siriano Brings Paris Fashion Week to Houston — and a Jewelry Whiz Adds to the Magic

Fresh off his first Paris Fashion Week, Christian Siriano brought an edited collection to Houston for a runway show, teaming up with jeweler Theresa Bruno for all the finishing touches. The evening benefited the Texas Children’s Health Plan and gave the stylephiles in attendance a chance to revel in Siriano’s ruffled confections. 

Even though it is Siriano’s busy event season, he jumped at the chance to come to Houston when his friend Jane Wagner asked. She also asked Bruno to collaborate on the evening and the jewelry designer immediately said yes, offering her Post Oak Parkway atelier for the event.

Siriano showed a mix of pre-fall and fall that was heavy on lilac and lavender hues. The pieces paired well with Bruno’s new lavender opal collection, which came in the day before the fashion show.

“I saw his runway show from fashion week and was tuned in. I began to look at pieces and started planning,” Bruno tells PaperCity.

The result was an intimate fashion show, big on dazzle and flounce, layers and structure, topped with the brilliance of Bruno’s Jordan Alexander jewelry.

“I was excited to find this parcel,” Bruno says. “It’s fashion forward with the ombre and in the sunlight looks like confetti.”

Even though Siriano was still catching his breath after Paris Fashion week, he couldn’t resist a trip to Houston.

“Paris was amazing, very beautiful, very different,” he says. “It’s nice to go there and then come here. Jane is such a good friend, so when she asked if we could come here, we said, yes. We are always down to give back as much as we can, and we haven’t been in Houston for a while and it’s always a good time here.”

True to his inclusive runway philosophy, models represented a variety of body types. Siriano has cultivated a reputation for being democratic in his approach to design, and has come to the rescue of many Hollywood stars whose sizes extend beyond the sample room. He revealed that his handbag line is on the horizon and that he’s looking forward to his J.Jill Holiday Collection.
