While many malls across America continue to flounder, premier Houston shopping destination The Galleria is not only flourishing, but also unveiling a series of cosmetic upgrades and new boutiques to its already monstrous store offerings.

It’s all part of the mall’s nearly $300 million mega renovation, an investment funded by The Galleria’s parent company Simon. Now, after two years of rigorous development, the renovation’s finale is on the horizon as it finally unveils the last piece of the puzzle: the new and improved Galleria VI.

Filling the former Saks Fifth Avenue space, the newly opened 110,000 square-foot wing marks the last piece of the mall’s massive renewal which began in 2015.

Thirty-five new stores and restaurants are set to occupy the Galleria VI including Ted Baker, AG Adriano Goldschmied, Sam Edelman, Lacoste, St. John, Cole Haan, Tumi, Coach, Peter Lik Gallery, True Religion, and Kate Spade New York, all of which are now open. Robin’s Jean, Cuadra, b8ta, Soap Secret, and Trésor Rare are slated to follow later this month.

In addition to its high-profile new stores, Galleria VI will also boast restaurant powerhouses including one of the world’s most recognized Japanese restaurants Nobu and New York-based Mediterranean eatery Fig & Olive.

“There is significant demand to be a part of The Galleria’s retail mix. Through this transformational moment at The Galleria, we are able to deliver a vibrant multi-level mall extension anchored end-to-end by [the new] Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus featuring approximately 110,000 square feet of space for 35 new and unique retailers and several new restaurants, all opening in 2017,” says Chris Lane, the mall’s director of marketing and business development.

“We are extremely committed to providing our shoppers with an unrivaled shopping experience that includes preeminent retail stores and restaurants.”

With increased fierce competition coming from the River Oaks District — which touts luxury outposts such as Tom Ford, Dior, Akris, and Stella McCartney as well as hotspot restaurants such as Le Colonial and Steak 48 — it’s safe to say The Galleria’s upgrade unveiling comes just in time.
