Bargain Designer Purses Draw a Huge Crowd of Fashionistas in River Oaks
A Sale on Prada and Jimmy Choo?
By Shelby Hodge //
What: Heroes for Children’s Heroes & Handbags benefit brunch
Where: River Oaks Country Club
PC Moment: Oh, the bargains they made as more than 300, mostly ladies, perused the auction array of 160 must-have handbags that were claimed by the highest bidders. Think Chanel, Prada, Jimmy Choo and our town’s Elaine Turner. The bidding was fast and furious with proceeds from the brunch surpassing $150,000.
After the frenzied shopping/bidding, guests settled down for the seated brunch and a heartfelt testimonial from former Fox 26 news anchor Melissa Wilson, whose son has been battling cancer for three years. Heroes for Children assists families of pediatric cancer patients with financial aid for needs such as rent, medical transportation expenses, and more.
Who: Chair Natalie King, honorary chair Yvonne Cormier, Robin Beltran, Caroline Harper Knapp, Donya Davis, and Mia Gradney and Heroes for Children co-founder Larissa Linton.
