British design royalty India Hicks has fascinated us ever since she was a bridesmaid in her godfather’s wedding to Princess Diana in 1980. The daughter of our full-time obsession, decorator David Hicks, and Lady Pamela Hicks, India will be in Houston this month for a design talk and signing of her newest book, India Hicks: Island Style (Rizzoli). The evening — presented by Tootsies, The River Oaks (a new luxury high-rise opening Spring 2016) and PaperCity — will see India discussing her colorful and charmed life on Harbour Island, with stories and images of her family, the island and those wacky British royal relatives. Her home on Harbour Island, Hibiscus Hill, is a dream.
Join us at Tootsies Monday, April 13, to meet India and acquire a signed book (Mother’s Day giftie?); 6:30 pm seated talk and presentation, 7:15 pm cocktails and book signing. Curate Books will have Island Style for sale at the event, $45. Please RSVP to rsvp@papercitymag.com. Tootsies at West Ave, 2601 Westheimer Road, Houston.
