Marc Jacobs brings his first to Texas full-line boutique in Houston's Galleria, opening late summer.
Shopping the insanely creative world of designer Marc Jacobs is about to become a hands-on experience for Houston fashionistas. The brand joining the Houston Galleria shopping center’s stable of luxury boutiques. When it opens later this summer, the shop will be Marc Jacobs’ first full-line store in Texas.
Fashion-forward mavens will surely applaud the arrival of what Bazaar describes as Jacobs’ “irreverence, a sense of humor and a timeless sense of style.” Those not so into the designer’s sometimes extreme ethos might still find must-haves among his ready-to-wear offerings, handbags, accessories and fragrances. Those items, along with men’s and women’s shoes, are all set to be carried in the new boutique.
You’ll find it Houston’s new Marc Jacobs store on Level One near The Galleria Financial Center where the boutique’s neighbors will be Tag Heuer and Nespresso.
“Incorporating designer Marc Jacobs to The Galleria further enhances our vigorous assortment of fashion-forward offerings that can only be found here,” Galleria director of marketing Chris Lane says in a statement. “With the arrival of Jacobs’ diverse products and inclusive brand, there’s an even more compelling reason to stop in and shop.”
Business of Fashion reports that the Houston Galleria shop is one of 20 stores that Marc Jacobs is opening in the next 18 months with the aim of hitting $1 billion in annual fashion and accessories sales in the next three to five years.
Since Jacob’s entry into the sphere of high fashion in 1984, including his tenure as creative director at Louis Vuitton, the creative force has soared — with a few up and downs — through nearly four decades in the fickle fashion world. He has successfully launched numerous ready-to-wear, handbag, fragrance and cosmetic collections as well as several books such as Marc Jacobs Illustrated.
An example of his influence, Jacobs’ iconic kiki boots (buckled monsters with absurdly high platforms) live on as statement footwear, six years after their runway introduction in New York.
