Another online-only fashion company is transitioning into a retail shop, this time in the Bishop Arts District. Dallas-based Mod + Jo initially began as an affordable, direct-to-consumer jewelry line. The brand will be making its storefront/studio debut at 421 N. Tyler Street later this month.

Founder Jordan Flynn began her handcrafted jewelry line in 2016, “focusing on quality progressive styles while maintaining a guilt-free price point that allows customers to keep up with their ever-changing styles.”

The brand sells necklaces, rings, bracelets and earrings. Bestsellers include gold pendant necklaces, saint coin necklaces and shorty necklaces.

Unique to the storefront, the new space will include a studio where Flynn and her crew will craft their jewelry and accessories.

“People always ask us, ‘So who’s Mod and Jo?’ or what the Mod within our name stands for,” Flynn says. “With our new storefront and studio opening, we’re finally able to bring the answer to life.

“Mod has always been essential to the brand- we’re modern, bold and eye-catching all at once within our aesthetic. This translates with the new Mod + Jo space as we mix vibrant whites with warm and cool natural tones to complement one another and, most important, our collection.

“Through our color palette, complimentary beverages, and the overall ambiance, we bring in a fresh shopping experience that is welcoming, relaxed and personal.”

Along with the brand new storefront, Mod + Jo will be releasing its newest collection. It’ll also carry the full collection that’s available online. The store will allow for customers to be able to customize their jewelry a bit easier. And early next year, the shop will offer ring-making classes.

As for the store itself, Flynn says that it morphed into something bigger once they found the right space.

“It gave us the ability to fulfill all of our original desires of having a space where customers could pick up their online orders and have wholesale customers pop in during market along with offering a retail space in a vibrant, expanding Bishop Arts District that we love,” she tells PaperCity.

“In contrast to working out of my home studio, we are now in the company of so many other female entrepreneurs and business owners in our new neighborhood. The community, which has already been so welcoming, was something I didn’t know I had been missing until I got here.”

Mod + Jo will celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, November 16 from 11 am to 7 pm, and November 27 from 12 pm to 4 pm. A special piercing event by artists Afton Alexandra and Lucy Machel will take place. And the first 10 guests to visit on Saturday, November 16 will receive a special gift.
