Victory Park Gets a New Worldly Pop-Up Shop: And That’s Just the Start of Development’s Major Plans

BY Mary Spencer // 10.23.17

With public art, unique brands and now a pop-up store, Victory Park is continuing to blossom as a center for entrepreneurs and artists in Dallas to display their concepts and crafts.

For the month of October only, Dallas welcomes its first ever pop-up store from the local online fashion brand, OETL Co. at 2404 Victory Park Lane.

OETL Co., or Ora et Labora Co., offers elegant, minimalist clothing, jewelry and leather and home accessories. Handmade by Argentinian and Italian artisans, OETL’s goods are reflective of the company’s partners’ worldly backgrounds. Gisel Borghi, the founder, was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and raised in a small town in Tuscany, Italy. In 2015, Borghi launched her online store in Dallas offering globally-sourced wares. Borghi’s partner, Mary Margaret Hocker has enjoyed the thrill of seeking local and global treasures since her youth.

Victory Park, a flourishing 75-acre mixed-use development in downtown Dallas, seems like an ideal location for the pop-up store.

“At its core, OETL Co. is about preserving global artisanship and bringing it into people’s daily life. There are so many designers and artists around the world who are creating incredible wares, using traditional techniques. The resulting products are each a unique work of art with a soul and a story,” Borghi says. “As compared to our online store, the physical pop-up at Victory Park will allow us to interact with our customers, to personally share the story of each product and celebrate the artisans behind them.”

The store is another success in the plans of Victory Park’s owners, Estein USA and retail partner Trademark Property Co., to redevelop and foster the district’s growth as a lively and ambulatory urban neighborhood.

“We want Victory Park to be the kind of place where people come to discover something new, connect with one another and have meaningful experiences,” says Terry Montesi, CEO of Trademark Property Co.

Around 85,000 square feet of new retail space has been added to Victory Park, which  is already home to more than 20 retailers and restaurants. This fall, Victory Park’s public art program is expected to enliven the area with a sculpture by Tim Bavington in addition to the five murals by local artist Lesli Marshall and sculpture by Nathan Mabry that are already installed.

The OETL Co. store will be open Mondays through Saturdays from 10 am to 6 pm until October 31, 2017.
