Playful, Sexy Makeup
The Sexual Revolution Inspires Lush New Shades
By Angela Shah //
I have been a fan of François Nars’ makeup line for 15 years or so. I love the depth and range of its color palette for eyes, cheeks, and lips — all of which come with cheeky names that emphasize that makeup should be a playful endeavor.
Now, the cosmetics and skincare company has released a collection of lip coverings that seem to solve the problem with seeking a matte lip look: dryness. The Nars Velvet Lip Glide gives you the coverage and moisture of a gloss, but the matte look and lasting power of a lipstick. The formula contains an argan-oil blend, which gives the gloss a lush feel on your lips without the tackiness of a traditional gloss.
The Lip Glide comes in 14 colors, from pretty nudes in “Unlaced” and “Stripped” to the more bold looks of “Le Palace’s” deep cherry red and the rich chestnut of “Area.” The company says the names for this collection were inspired by the sexual revolution of the 1970s.
In addition to the lush feel of the Glides, its finish seemingly morphs from the initial shine of a gloss into a sophisticated “varnish” that lasts for hours. Get some of these, and your lips will thank you.
