Rihanna and Lady Gaga-Loved Designer Builds Excitement for Big Reveal
What Will Gvasalia Do In Paris?
By Sydney Mitchell //
The Paris 2016 autumn/winter shows are right around the corner, and the excitement is growing about Demna Gvasalia — the new artistic director of Balenciaga. The Georgian’s first collection for the brand will hit the runway later this month in the City of Light, and it’s the talk of the town.
Without a doubt, we’ll miss Alexander Wang sprinting down the runway after each of his shows, but we’re looking forward to what Gvasalia has to offer.
If the name sounds familiar, that’s because Gvasalia is the lead designer of Vetements, one of Paris’ most hyped labels of the past few years. His collections for the edgy company have made it one of the most innovative cult brands in fashion. Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Kanye West have all sported his style. (Don’t fret, because Gvasalia still has a relationship with the company.)
Designers like Gvasalia bring creativity and a desire to stray from the norm, and we are guessing he will do exactly that with his first collection for Balenciaga.
