With wine glasses in one hand and shopping baskets in the other, an enthused group swarmed through the new Sephora in Highland Village for an opening party that revealed just how popular this mega cosmetics/skin care empire is.
All 23 employees were on the floor offering guidance, giving advice and making suggestions to young women seeking ultimate beauty products and older femmes in search of the fountain of youth.
So we joined the party. We checked in with one associate on eye shadows. He recommended Natasha Denona for its waterproof, stay-all-day qualities. He also suggested Nars’ Orgasm Lip Balm for its hydration and subtle hint of color. We asked another about lipstick and he pointed to Marc Jacobs.
“I’m prejudice,” he confessed. “I have a Marc Jacobs tattoo.”
Sephora is big on skincare so we checked in with store manager Lisa Tyrrell, who allowed that Houston’s own Drunk Elephant and Tata Harper are likely the most popular brand. And what about self-tanning products, Snow White asked. She suggested Isle of Paradise and San Tropez.
The Highland Village property is the ninth Sephora store in the Houston area and offers the full array of beauty services. Makeup artist applications, makeovers, parties and classes are all part of the Sephora menu. Bachelorette fête, anyone?
