Skin Care Science Takes Off
Dallas Company Lands Exclusive Deal With Barneys New York
By Linden Wilson Jobe //
Dallas-based Bellatorra Skin Care may be only eight months old, but the science behind its luxurious products — which arrive exclusively in the U.S. at Barneys New York this month — is already attracting attention. Founder Nathan Halsey, who has spent years developing and distributing skincare products in Asia, developed his patent-pending Torra48 delivery system using nanotechnology to release what he dubs “bellaspheres” into the deepest layers of skin over a 48-hour period to combat visible signs of advanced aging — wrinkles, sensitivity and other troublesome concerns.
The “aha” moment came after collaborating with a team of Dallas physiologists and chemists in a previous venture to develop supplements with a unique delivery system for key vitamins and nutrients. After noticing the anti-aging benefits of intense nutraceuticals, Halsey went back to the drawing board and spent a year of research and development perfecting Bellatorra’s delivery system, formulas and scents. A lineup of eight products includes the Uplifting Activating Mist ($165), Anti-Aging Eye Cream ($240) and Cellular Renewal Complex Moisturizer (available for a cool $295), which were early customer faves.
