If cycling was a religion, SoulCycle would be the church, and the parishioners would be the 13,000 devout riders spanning the country. Starting this April, Houston becomes a member of the indoor cycling studio’s exclusive congregation (which currently includes nine other states only) as the brand opens its first Texas location, at 2549 Kirby Dr.
A state-of-the-art 56-bike studio serves as home for Houstonians’ SoulCycle experience, which was made famous in part by its cult-like celebrity following.
Famous names including Chelsea Clinton, Lady Gaga, Bradley Cooper and Victoria Beckham could be clipped in on a neighboring bike (depending on which SoulCycle you’re exercising in).
Priced at $30 per class, SoulCycle’s signature workout takes place in a candlelit studio and includes everything from high-intensity pedaling to weights and core choreography — all powered by a dynamic playlist, of course.
But Houston isn’t the only Texas city getting a taste of the beloved cycling experience. Clocking in at 60 bikes, Dallas’ Preston Hollow will house the second SoulCycle studio in the Lone Star State, at 5944 W Northwest Hwy.
Both the Dallas and Houston SoulCycles will also provide customers with full men’s and women’s locker rooms equipped with multiple showers (the Houston location is fashioned with two showers per locker room, while Dallas will include three to four).
Additionally, each studio houses an extensive lifestyle boutique that will offer the brand’s original performance and athleisure clothing collections.
SoulCycle was founded in 2006 by Elizabeth Cutler and Julie Rice. The chain currently owns 56 locations nationwide, and plans to expand to more than 60 outposts in 2016, including a studio opening in London.
