NEW YORK — For the urban woman seeking fashionable, feminine, easy-to-wear clothing that fits her lifestyle, it’s a jungle out there. But the founders of Veronica Beard have cut through the clutter with chic, wearable options and, in the process, have become one of the hottest brands in contemporary fashion right now.
Their signature Dickey Jacket, a twist on the classic blazer with a zip-in insert to create a layered outerwear look, has been widely popular, adopted by such style icons as Sarah Jessica Parker, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Lopez.
At New York Fashion Week, Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Bush were among the fans who stopped by to see the latest looks that sisters-in-law Veronica Miele Beard and Veronica Swanson Beard are offering. The Beards (who happen to have the same first and last names, making it easy for them to come up with the perfect moniker for their business) dubbed their spring/summer ’19 collection,”Concrete Jungle,” and positioned models in a variety of mix-and-match looks amid a forest of overgrown ferns in an industrial New York warehouse.
For this collection the Beards extended the Dickey Jacket into a nighttime look by pairing a classic pink-and-black checked blazer over a gray hoodie dickey and silver sequined wide-legged pants. There’s also a bit of an ’80s vibe with plaid power suits, pantsuits in paisley patterns or leopard prints, chunky belts with Lucite buckles and doorknocker earrings.
Other colorful looks range from a head-to-toe floral pantsuit to a silver sequin slipdress that adds a touch of flash. If that’s not enough, checkered pencil skirts, plaid short shorts and matching jacket, and wispy floral dresses offer more fashionable choices. With so many options, it’s no wonder business is booming for the Veronica Beards.
In Houston, the Veronica Beard collection is available at Elizabeth Anthony.
