Victor Glemaud is Having a Fashion Moment — and Target Is All In On the Playful Fun
An Up-and-Coming Designer to Know
By Clifford Pugh //
NEW YORK — Victor Glemaud is not exactly a household name in fashion, but the up-and-coming designer has been targeted for greater things. At New York Fashion Week, Glemaud made a sunny debut at the Moynihan Train Hall, showcasing his colorful, clingy spring/summer ’22 collection in the renovated station with soaring ceilings and bright spaces.
Known for creating “statement knitwear” for a broad range of genders, races, sizes and personalities, the 43-year-old Haitian-American designer riffed on the iconic spring 2005 Perry Ellis collection created by designer Patrick Robinson.
The collection merges bright colors with prominent textures and feminine cut outs. Glemaud set the breezy tone with his first looks — bubblegum-pink bodysuits, pants, tops and dresses — and followed with body-hugging low-rise pants, halter jumpsuits, rompers, culottes and mini dresses in yellow, black and white.

Working with cashmere, wool and silk, Glemaud incorporates new knit stitching features such as perforation, rib pointelle and mesh to add an easy movement to his signature styles. The final runway looks combine graphic patterns on slinky, sporty separates.
Glemaud also partnered with Haitian shoe designer Pascale Theard to create sandals handcrafted in Haiti for the collection. The duo offer a thong version and traditional sandal silhouette.
Target has taken note of Glemaud’s talents. The retail chain has included him in its Target Fall Designer Collection, available in Target stores and online. For that collection, he created 32 different items, including polka dot tunic dresses, striped mock turtleneck pullover sweaters, flared sweatpants, animal print dresses and high-rise shorts in his bold signature style, along with cat-eye sunglasses. All in his playful aesthetic.
The items in the Target collection are under $50 and come in a broad range of sizes, from XXS to 4X.
