The venue can definitely fit a lot of guests.
If you’ve always wanted to get married in a mansion, a new luxury wedding and event venue in Hickory Creek may fulfill your wish. The Olana is a 50,000 square foot French chateau-style mansion that was recently transformed into a dream destination to say “I do.”
The massive chateau, which sits on a 40-acre estate and was formerly called Champ D’Or, is at 1851 Turbeville Road, just north of Lewisville in North Texas. The mansion, inspired by French baroque architecture was built as an homage to Chateau de Vaux-le-Vicomte. And judging by the photos on the website and description of marble floors, hand-carved spiral staircases and a gold-plated elevator, it’s beyond luxe.
Built in 2000, the mansion is one of the largest houses in Texas. It was founded by husband and wife Alan and Shirley Goldfield, who lived there for about two years following the completion of the build in 2006. After the couple left, it sat vacant for six years, until the Tabani family purchased it in 2012. In 2018, it sold to Walters Hospitality, a Texas-based entertainment venue business.
The sprawling home has a bowling alley, movie theater, tea room and racquetball court. There’s a 20 car garage, fitness facility, indoor pool, tennis court, basketball court and a two-story Chanel-inspired closet. For the wedding venue, The Olana is seeking zoning changes in order to add even more.
Plans include two hotel buildings, that will look like large private residences, a restaurant, bar, spa, and a glass enclosure built behind the mansion as a reception hall. Up for a vote with the Town Council on June 18, due to surrounding homeowners protests about noise and traffic, we’ll see if this really happens. Although, there is a plan in place to keep sound and light away from the neighboring homes.
It certainly does look like a fairytale wedding venue. You can inquire about tours and viewings online.
