Stunning Houses In Bellaire, Montrose, Timbergrove, The Heights and More That Any Houston Home Lover Can Tour

Top Architects Let Their Imagination Run Wild

By //

Anyone can step inside some of the most beautifully designed houses in the greater Houston area during the American Institute of Architects Houston’s 2026 annual Home Tour. The self-guided tour, which is set to take place Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8, showcases seven homes that represent some of the Bayou City’s best new residential architecture.

This year’s Houston Home Tour includes houses in the Bellaire, Montrose, Museum District, The Heights, Sixth Ward and Timbergrove neighborhoods. Each house was designed by a different architectural firm: StudioMET Architects, HR Design Dept, Dillon Kyle Architects, Collaborative Designworks, Inflection Architecture, Luis Ayala Studio, and McIntyre + Robinowitz Architects.

Let’s take a closer look at some of the don’t-miss houses on this year’s tour.

Luis Ayala Studio restored a dilapidated 1879 cottage at 1912 Kane Street, transforming it into a light-filled contemporary home. Due to regulations in the protected Sixth Ward, the studio was required to preserve the cottage’s exterior wood siding and exposed raw shiplap walls, which now add a historical feel to the space.

Something that makes this home even more special? Ayala even added custom wooden ramps and a private dog door for the owners’ beloved dachshund.

When a pair of homeowners in the Museum District purchased the lot at 1515 Banks Street adjoining their house, they hired Dillon Kyle Architects to reinvision it. That project turned into a 1,700-square foot, single-story, mid-century modern-inspired retreat that blurs the lines between pavilion, pool house and guest residence. Large sliding glass doors open the living room to the grassy lawn, and a covered outdoor patio beckons visitors to relax by the pool. The pavilion also lacks a formal front entry facing Banks Street — a bold design move.

Up in The Heights, Inflection Architecture expanded a 1926 historic bungalow at 901 Pecore Street. The addition, which wraps around the house’s private courtyard, emphasizes greenery and comfort. At the intersection of the old and new structures is an open treehouse play loft, which features the home’s exposed 1926 roof framing.

The expanded kitchen is connected to a new screened porch, which is conceptualized as a “jewel box” facing the street.

These are just some of the stunning architectural works that architecture and design devotees won’t want to miss.

AIA Houston architects will be present at each house to speak to visitors. Discounted tickets can be purchased online through Friday, November 6. Tickets can also be purchased at any of the participating houses on the days of the tour. Full tour tickets cost $35 in advance and $40 the weekend of the tour. Tickets to any individual house run $10.

The AIA Houston Home Tour is Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8. It is presented by eggersmann USA. For more information and tickets, go here.
