What: Recipe for Success Foundation’s “The Art of Food & Community” luncheon

Where: River Oaks Country Club

PC Moment: As “eat healthy” is the cris de coeur of Recipe for Success, the luncheon menu was right on target with three courses from three chefs that included a total of 13 vegetables. The 300 guests lunched on Monica Pope‘s 1-2-3 salad, Greg Martin‘s quinoa cake and Ryan Pera‘s chocolate beet cake. As emcee Dominique Sachse of KPRC Channel 2 noted, “Healthy can be super delicious.”

Luncheon chairs Bill Baldwin and Fady Armanious presented community activist awards to five women, recognized for their commitment to building a healthier Houston. Receiving mayoral proclamations in their honor and a gift from Chopard were Philamena Baird, Dr. Sippi Khurana, Bettina Elias Siegel, Claire Cormier-Thielke and Hallie Vanderhider.

Also receiving special recognition were volunteer of the year T’Liza Kiel, chef of the year Greg Martin and VegOut! top fundraiser Ariana Smetana.

Who: Recipe for Success founder Gracie Cavnar and Bob Cavnar, Merele Yarborough, Erin and Aashish Parakh, Stacey Lindseth, Yvonne and Rufus Cormier, Kim Padgett, Mary Ann McKeithan, Cathy Brock, Bobbie Nau, Barbara McKnight, Karen Love and Justin Meyers.
