Dallas’ Historic Manhattan-Style Apartment Building is Reopening After Snazzy Renovation
Get a Sneak Peek at the Reborn Argyle
By Megan Ziots
The Argyle, a luxury apartment “high-rise” built in 1927, will be completing its latest renovation this August and ready for resident move in. The historic building, located at Oak Lawn Avenue and Hall Street, is seven stories high and was considered a “big apartment” back in the day.
In 1981, the property underwent a renovation after fancy new condos began to pop up all around Turtle Creek, out-sizing and outshining the older, red brick apartment building. Guaranteed Development Co. stepped in and orchestrated an extensive refurbishment.
Two years ago, Indio Management started its own renovations on the building, which was to be completed in two phases. Phase two is almost complete with eight different floor plans, including studios, one bedrooms and two bedrooms starting at $1,400 a month.
Keeping the historical elements intact, as the company did with Lower Greenville’s Bella Villa, the only changes Indio made were reallocating some square footage and updating appliances and lighting fixtures. The number of units remain the same. Concrete pillars are unmoved and exposed. Indio nicknamed them “beautiful constraints.”
The architecture of the building is very Manhattan-esque, making The Argyle stand out in the Oak Lawn neighborhood. It really doesn’t look like anything else in the area, besides maybe The Warwick hotel that was also built in the 1920s.
Residents can look forward to hardwood floors, matte gold hardware, exposed duct ventilation, white quartz countertops, double pane windows, walk-in closets, smart home technologies, washer and dryers, new elevators and garage parking. There will also be a dog park and a private fitness center coming soon.
