Texas’ Legendary Inn at Dos Brisas is Shuttered For Good and Now On Sale For $17.5 Million

A Romantic Paradise Set on 313 Acres of Magic Countryside Could Become a Future Luxe Spa

Oh, what fond memories we have of gourmet dinners, romantic evenings, frolicking nude in our private haciendas’s secluded pool — all at the Inn at Dos Brisas, the luxe caravansary an hour northwest of Houston. And, oh, how blue we are to learn that not only did it close permanently (we thought it was only a temporary shuttering due to the pandemic) but that it is also for sale. List price for the Relais & Chateaux property is $17.5 million.

“After 17 years in operation, we have decided to close our inn to guests and place the property for sale,” owners Jennifer and Doug Bosch note on Dos Brisas’ website.

Luxury knew no limits in the haciendas at the now closed Inn at Dos Brisas.

To the Bosches we say, thank you for the memories. We recall the New Year’s eve that a friend hired a limo and carted us and others there for a spectacular dinner at the inn’s restaurant which at its height was the only Forbes five star rated restaurant in all of Texas. Vegetables and greens coming from the 42-acre FDA certified organic farm and the 7,000 square foot, high-tech greenhouse.

There were weekends when we would book one of the four 800-square-foot casitas complete with a gas fireplace flanked by over-stuffed leather chairs, kitchenette and breakfast discreetly delivered each morning. Each came with a golf cart for exploring the oak and pecan-shaded acreage and for transport to the main inn with its resort style pool, old world bar and the famed dining room with its massive fireplace.

The best was when we were able to land a night in one of the Inn at Dos Brisas’ five 1,795-square-foot haciendas, probably the most romantic ranch-inspired perch in the state. Think soaring cathedral ceilings, antique furnishings, French oak floors and a furnished screened porch.

Amenities included fireplaces and flat screen TVs in the living room and in the bedroom, a vast bathroom, dressing room, outdoor shower and the private plunge pool, heated when necessary. Dinner in the restaurant and breakfast delivered to the hacienda in the morning were included in the tariff.

Activities at the inn included sporting clays, tennis, horseback riding, riding lessons, carriage tours of the grounds, picnics prepared in the restaurant, tours of the greenhouse and simply soaking up the peaceful grandeur of this magnificent property.

In their message to those visiting the Inn at Dos Brisas website, the Bosches suggest that potential buyers might consider revitalizing it as an inn, or adapting it as a business compound or even better, converting it into a family retreat. We have learned, however, that there are several interested parties looking at the ranch as a potential spa. That would be amazing.
