There have been some major dining developments in Dallas lately. Longstanding icons have made their highly-anticipated return, buzzy new hotspots have hit the scene, and few of Dallas’ favorite restaurants have spread their reach. We rounded up the greatest and latest in Dallas food news to bring you five of the best new restaurants to try right now – and five to try later.

Sachet

The husband and wife team behind beloved local haunt Gemma debuted their second restaurant this fall. Located at the Shops at Highland Park, Sachet is a mediterranean-inspired concept with exotic yet approachable flavors drawn from Spain, Greece, Lebanon, Morocco and more. Fresh dishes like yellow beets with red beet hummus and labne, swordfish with Lebanese herb sauce, and braised Texas wild boar ribs are best enjoyed family-style.

The French Room

One of Dallas’ most legendary dining rooms recently reopened after a 16-month design overhaul. The French Room is now the picture of modern elegance — and its cuisine has the same attitude. The menu is an updated take on classic French cuisine from Chef Michael Elhert – slightly more approachable, but no less grand.

Hudson House

If you’re a fan of East Hampton Sandwich Co., you’ll love restaurateur Hunter Pond’s newest project. Hudson House embraces the breezy, all-American style of its sister restaurant in an upscale way. Stop by during happy hour for some of their can’t-miss oysters (half-off) and a chilled-to-perfection martini.

Ferris Wheelers

The State Fair of Texas has already packed up for the year, but there’s another place to take a spin. Ferris Wheelers is a fun new barbecue joint in the Design District, with casual eats from Head Pitmaster Doug Pickering. It has a huge patio with games, live music, and, yes… a 50-foot-tall ferris wheel.

Up on Knox

This Uptown restaurant comes from Melody Bishop and Dennis Kelley, the husband and wife team who formerly presided over the kitchen at Lark on the Park. Their new, high-end American brasserie is open for dinner only.

Bullion

The long-awaited, gold-gilded downtown restaurant from The Mansion’s former chef Bruno Davaillon is set to open next month; start making reservations immediately.

Malibu Poke

Renowned local chef Matt McCallister and Jon Alexis of TJ’s Seafood are joining forces to shake up Dallas’ hottest foodie trend: poke, the Hawaiian raw fish bowl. The new restaurant should open on Oak Lawn sooner than later.

The Statler

The historic downtown hotel is now up-and-running, and its six accompanying restaurant and bar concepts are soon to follow. The restaurants to come include Overeasy, a farm-to-table joint; Scout, a casual New American spot with bowling, billiards and live music; a Fine China, a Pan-Asian with Angela Hernandez, the former chef at Top Knot, in the kitchen; Bourbon & Banter, an underground cocktail lounge; and Waterproof, a rooftop pool bar and lounge.

Commissary

Familiar with the luscious baked goods at Weekend Coffee, the foccacia at Sassetta, or the hearty bread served at Americano? Commissary, the off-site bakery for Headington Companies, is to thank for those slices of heaven. The bakery is opening its own storefront and grab-and-go café on Monday, November 6.

Mille Lire
