Things are a changin’ at Legacy Hall in the wake of John Tesar’s decision to shutter his Knife Burger restaurant at the uber hyped Plano food hall. Six other restaurants had already elected to close, including Monkey King Noodle Company, Tight Quarters and Glazed Donut Works.
Now, three new restaurants have signed on, hoping to have better luck at a food hall that was supposed to be a beacon for innovative dining in North Texas.
Haskell & Worth, Shayna’s Place and SusieCakes will open in Spring 2019.
Haskell & Worth is scheduled to be the first to open this Thursday, February 28, bringing house-made Philly Cheesesteaks to Texas. The restaurant is named after the Dallas crossroads where its chef, Jordan Swim, opened his first catering company more than 11 years ago.
Sandwich choices will include ribeye steak or chicken on top of a traditional Amaroso roll and covered with a choice of onions, peppers, cheese and mushrooms. Djion aioli, mayo, Carlton’s BBQ sauce, ketchup, or Frank’s Red Hot will be available to top your sandwich off.
Shayna’s Place, known for its breakfast items, sandwiches, soups, salads and admirable mission will open in the spring. The spot works to provide employment opportunities for people with special needs as detailed in an earlier PaperCity story.
Shayna’s sandwich options include The Vinny’s Kitchen: an East-Coast style “grinder” sandwich topped with prosciutto di Parma, capicola, provolone, hot peppers and Shayna’s dressing.
Vegetarian and vegan meals will also be available, such as the Shayna’s Avocado Toast with sprouts. Another favorite is the Zorba The Greek Salad. There’s a full menu of coffee drinks as well.
SusieCakes will be the new dessert option at Legacy Hall. This all-American bakery sells frosted layered cakes in flavors such as Southern Red Velvet, Six Layer Chocolate and Tropical Coconut.
Haskell & Worth and Shayna’s Place will be open everyday from 10 am to 10 pm, while SusieCakes will be open Sundays through Wednesdays from 11 am to 10 pm and Thursdays through Saturdays from 11 am to 11 pm.
It’s all something of a reboot for a high-profile spot.
