Rice Village Lands its Own Food Hall — and It’s From The Team Behind a Legendary New Orleans Mecca

Are You Ready for Houston's Own St. Roch Market?

The patron saint of food halls is turning its eye to Houston. Epic NOLA food hall St. Roch Market is heading to none other than Rice Village, promising a bevy of vendors at the former Rice Village Arcade on Morningside and University Boulevard.

The space is set to transform thanks to the team behind the legendary St. Roch Market, which initially opened in New Orleans back in 2014, in the aughts of the food hall craze. The trendsetting New Orleans food hall is all about a dozen different stands that feature everything from grain bowls to seafood to sandwiches to cold-pressed juices and coffees.

Plans for the restaurant vendors at this new Rice Village food hall have not been revealed yet.

The exact name of the Space City version is also still unknown, but it almost certainly will debut under a new name. St. Roch Market is embroiled in a copyright legal battle with a Miami cafeteria-style spot with the exact same name.

The New Orleans market has since sued the parent company Helpful Hound.

Houston’s food hall craze is going strong, with throngs of the communal-style meccas set to arrive. This upcoming Rice Village market will join the ranks of the OG Conservatory, recently opened Finn Hall, Bravery Chef Hall, Understory, Lyric Market and Railway Heights.
