The Cheesiest Day of the Year Hits Dallas
This Birthday Party Will Be a Food Lover’s Delight
By Sara Habbas //
Feast on feta, gouda, mozzarella, and more when upscale Dallas cheese shop Scardello Artisan Cheese celebrates its ninth birthday on Saturday, October 28.
Scardello’s tasting begins at 2 pm and features a variety of in-store specials, including a sampling of four different wines and four cheeses paired with chocolate ($10 a person). From 5 to 10 pm, guests can enjoy all wines by the glass for $5, and anniversary cheese plates for $8 a person.
Scardello is known for its traditional, handcrafted cheeses, plus charcuterie, artisan breads, spreads, and beer and vino. Scardello owner Rich Rogers says he’s always loved food and cooking, which fueled his love affair with cheese and led him to open the Oak Lawn shop with his wife, Karen.
“My all-time favorite cheese is probably Epoisses,” he says. “Silky, stinky, and gooey, this French beauty from Burgundy is boozy and complex.”
