What: Taco Diner Closing Fiesta

Where: Taco Diner Preston Center

PC Moment: Taco Diner knows how to make a dramatic exit. When the franchise decided to close its long-standing location at Preston Center, it turned a bittersweet occasion into a lively celebration. Taco Diner invited some of its most loyal customers to a grand closing bash on June 7, the last day of service at the Preston Center outpost.

The closure is all part of the major transformation currently happening to the brand. Taco Diner is revamping its menu, and renovating each location one by one. The new Lake Highlands location (7150 Skillman Street) is becoming a hub of new menu items and something of an innovative testing ground.

But, of course, some things never change. Taco Diner Preston Center brought out all the old favorites for its closing bash – Mambo Taxis, chips and salsa, and tacos included – as well as a few new additions, like the frozen Paloma. Actually, we’ve been tipped off that the restaurant chain is phasing out its famous Mambo Taxi in favor of the Paloma.

At first we were slightly outraged, but after tasting the frosty grapefruit beverage, we think they’re actually making the right call.

Party guests shared memories of the beloved neighborhood restaurant institution while enjoying the festive fare and dancing the night away. Taco Diner’s future sure seems bright.
