It was an electric literary evening at the Inprint Poets & Writers Ball, thanks in part to the appearance of Man Booker Prize-winning author Salman Rushdie. At the sold-out event, more than 420 guests were treated to salon-style readings from enchanting young writers Nina McConigley, Kimberly Meyer, and Tiphanie Yanique before the seated dinner at the Houston Country Club. Rushdie received a standing ovation after his electrifying talk on Eastern “Wonder Tales” and the imaginative importance of fiction. The evening raised $460,000 for Inprint’s community activities, including writer workshops and public readings. Bibliophiles: ball chairs Jeff Fort, Andrea and Bill White; Inprint’s Consuelo Duroc-Danner, Christina Bryan, Rich Levy, Eleanor Gilbane; guests Richard Finger, Gracie Cavnar, Trey Peacock, Mark Wawro, and Nina and Michael Zilkha.
