What: Breakthrough Houston “Choose Your Own Adventure” luncheon
Where: Flores Hall at St. John’s School
PC Moment: More than 400 guests turned out to celebrate graduating seniors in the Breakthrough program that provides tuition-free academic enrichment for underserved, high potential students in seventh through 12th grades. University of Houston president Renu Khator lauded the organization saying, “We can all agree that talent is universal, but opportunity is not.” Her recipe for aiding students — raising expectations, instilling confidence and offering attentive care. Chairs Allison Leibman, Liz Stepanian and Dr. Courtney Toomey helped raise $250,000 for the program.
