What: Citizens for Animal Protection 30th annual Celebrity Paws gala
Where: Royal Sonesta Hotel
PC Moment: The fun started on arrival with Charleston dancers on stilts, a vintage Rolls Royce and old-time tunes. Many among the 600 guests stepped out in Great Gatsby style including chairs Marian and Austin Cornelius and Patricia and Sig Cornelius and honorary chairs Pamela and Jack Wright. Nine duos and their four-legged friends vied for Celebrity Pet of the Year, with that won by Miss Celie and owners Paige and Robert Martin. Awards were aplenty with the Alan Stein Family, Francie and Mike Willis, Leslie Alexander and the Houston Rockets, Cathy and Jess Marion, and Gloria and Frank Meszaros of West Houston Subaru receiving honors. The event raised $600,000 for the animal shelter.
